As time went by, LOS PLANETAS debut EP reached the category of a myth,
being a starting point for the band’s career, and a good way to understand
the evolution of the latter Spanish indie-pop.
So we had no choice but to re-release it (at least) on CD, so all the
gourmets of the best Spanish pop can enjoy it.

Produced by their fellow citizen Antonio Arias (LAGARTIJA NICK), “Medusa
EP” features four direct, distorted pop songs, unsettling and charming at
the same time. The record is opened with two jewels of catchiest pop, which
were the first classics to settle their characteristic style: good melodies,
perfect structures, and a noisy background as an uncomfortable filling for
those unusually intelligent lyrics. “Pegado A Ti” used to be a hit with its
disarming immediacy, and “Mi Hermana Pequeña” is still an up-tempo classic
of the repertoire of the band, a success since its first demo version, with
a perverse lyric about love, violence and incest.

“El Centro Del Cerebro” and “Cada Vez” are two feedback saturated
mid-tempos, creating suffocating, intense atmospheres, leaving no place for
the vocals to breathe.

“Medusa EP”, then, is the best way to know the origins of a band which,
one way or another, can’t leave anyone indifferent.
