John Hardy was a really prolific name in Uk indie pop, as he was member of bands such as PRISTINES, BALLOON FARM and PERFECT; DOLORES HAZE recreate a dense, hypnotic, and very disturbing sound à la DROP NINETEENS or PALE SAINTS.

This album aroused a lot of expectations, 'Aquí vivía yo' ('Here is where I used to live', wonderful title) is LE MANS´ B-E-S-T album EVER. On every new record they have managed to reinforce them, by improving their working method and writing better and better songs. This is the final stage. This is one of the best albums written in years, or even decades. No kidding. We really mean it.

After a short career as FEVERFEW, they changed their name to THE RILEYS. They achieve such charming pop songs as those of THE HOUSEMARTINS and dote their compositions with masterly soul touches, thanks to the help of a female voice that really shocks you.

In England they have already released several records. Steve Lines, one of its members, has his own label, fanzines, he draws comics... a hyperactivity you can find in this single. Some drops of distortion, freed electricity and winks to THE TRUDY or THE REZILLOS added up to cheesy keyboards result as a music which most accurate definition would be “Martian pop-punk”. Their debut album was also released by Elefant.

Since its first record, PO! became one of the favourite bands of Elefant and we didn’t stop until we got to release one of the band’s works. They had already released a lot of singles and a whole LP, but ours was their most acoustic and private record to that date. Four delicious, touching tracks, owning the most extreme beauty in pop music. Later on we released another single by them, and even a complete compilation with their best songs and text written by Ruth Miller herself!

They took their place at the beginning of a new era in the Spanish indie pop. After their hit, “The Trial”, USURA released one of the best albums of 92. Five songs really filled with strong, distorted, animal changes of rhythm, bitter flavour and dark moments of tenderness. A must.

Jyoti Mishra is a natural genius; he himself wrote and recorded the four songs included in this single at his own place in an eight-tracks. He knows how to create charming and catchy pop songs. This was one of his first records, before he became internationally famous and got to the Top 1 in the UK major charts with “Your woman”!!!

Joako and Patxi shaped the first Spanish band clearly influenced by British pop, something no one had ever done before. Four songs taken out of their first and only demo that came to light in this record two years later, when the band was living its last times. “September” is a real hit of the Spanish independence.

After releasing “Happy Wednesday”, it was out of the question not releasing something more by this British quartet. Like some crazed WEDDING PRESENT, filled with freshness and tenderness, they gave us four pretty POP songs, with charming violin arrangements, teen spirit and folk touches. Among these songs, one of them, “Spanish Girls On TV”, especially written for their Spanish female fans. Look for their gorgeous debut CD somewhere else in this catalogue!

A well known combo from Bristol with a really good reputation in the English indie circuits. They signed with Sarah Records and changed their name to TRAMWAY, with which they released several Ep’s and an LP. This single was released after the band split up, two demos and one live cover from ‘89 especially remixed for the occasion three years later. As they say: “this is, and will be, the only official single of the band”.

(MERCENARY TREE FREAKS, USURA, LA SÍNTESIS, THE LOVELIES)
This compilation was created at the time to escort the disappeared fanzine, “La Línea Del Arco”. Madrid-based USURA contribute with a song of their first demo, “The Trial”, which, curiously enough, has become one of the band’s hits. LA SINTESIS brought a really good cover of the CLOSE LOBSTERS’ “Violently Pretty Face”. The British LOVELIES gave us “Happy Wednesday”, teen pop with violin arrengements, before releasing their debut album later on Elefant. And, last but not least, the energetic pop of MERCENARY TREE FREAKS and “Michelin Man”. All these songs were previously unreleased.

After having listened to their first single, “Alison”, we realized that this English threesome was, no doubt about it, the best band to be our first reference. The record includes three pretty songs that pick up excerpts of the British pop in their purest states, from THE BEATLES to THE SMITHS.
