Biography

On the early nineties British label Setanta, which was starting to gain a well-deserved prestige- released a minialbum signed by a band/artist called BRIAN, moniker chosen by Ken Sweeney to deliver beautifully delicate pop songs. It wasn´t a big smash hit nor did it receive too much attention from the music press, but his songs impressed seriously a good number of pop loving hearts all over the world. The accoustic fragility of the tracks, close to the simplest and tenderest moments of the early SMITHS, and specially that wonderful song called "Understand", were responsible of that infatuation among band and fans.

After the release, Ken vanished into thin air, and remained inactive, at least in terms of recordings, for six long years. Maybe too long for the hyperactive market of today´s pop music, where you´ve got to be constantly in the public eye not too be forgotten; meanwhile many fans were waiting, hoping to listen to new songs by BRIAN.

At last, on April 1999 Setanta releases "Bring Trouble", BRIAN´s new album. And it sounds as it nothing really important had happened through all these years. His music is still as emotional and sensitive as it´s always been. The album is full of small pop gems, trembling, sweet and melancholic; just what we were expecting from him.

At Elefant´s headquarters you can find some of those fans that kept waiting for news from BRIAN for almost seven years; so now we want to celebrate his comeback with this new item from our singles club; two of the best songs from the album ("We Close 1-2" and "Light Years") plus two unreleased songs, "Cabaret Band" and "Under The FloorBoards". A conclusive evidence to show BRIAN´s ability to compose moving, touching songs is still intact.
