Jesús García García: acoustic guitar and vocals ME ENVENENO DE AZULES is formed by two brothers from Yecla (Murcia). In spite of starting creating songs under this very peculiar name in late 1998, Jesús and Jose have been playing together in many bands, in some of these they played with Antonio Galvañ, who now works as PARADE. The music of ME ENVENENO DE AZULES is mainly based on superb vocal harmonies and crystal-like guitars. They get in touch with us when another Elefant band, CECILIA ANN, play in their town, so they pass them a demo tape, which will be really appreciated by Elefant. 1999-2000 Their first record comes out in July: a four song seven inch vinyl under the title of “Imágenes”. The single is presented live in a show in Happy House club at Yecla on July 17th, playing with their old pal PARADE. 2001 ME ENVENENO DE AZULES debut album (“1968”) appears in November 2001. The album was recorded in Refugio Antiaéreo studios, and counts with collaborations by Antonio Galvañ (PARADE) playing all keyboards and Erik Jimenez (PLANETAS) on drums and percussions. It also features a superb packaging designed by Gregorio Soria. There are some fine string and horn arrangements, something carefully crafted by the band and producer Carlos Hernández. The album includes new recordings of songs already included in their singles (“Imágenes”, “Lluvia en mis zapatos”, “Como soy”) and a bunch of new fantastic tracks such as “A veces quiero estar callado”, “Birdy”, “Es fiel” and many more, making of “1968” one of the most suggestive debuts of 2001. The album is also available in a very limited vinyl edition. ME ENVENENO DE AZULES has a new live line-up, in which Jesús and Jose are accompanied by Jose Piqueras (guitar) and Gustavo Roses (drums). The first show with this new line-up takes place in September 2001, in Murcia’s Lemon pop Festival. Two months later they play in Zaragoza’ Superfly Club, in a night hosted by fanzines Niceshoes, Georgy Girl and Chicle; ME ENVENENO DE AZULES shares the bill with SHIZUKA, and surprises everyone with a very solid live performance, showing a great improvement from their early shows. In November 2001 Prentice Hall Publishing releases in the States a text book called “Conexiones”. The book is intended for Spanish learners, and includes ME ENVENENO DE AZULES’ song “Vidas paralelas”. The lyrics are included in the book as well as pictures and information about the band.. The songs itself is included in the accompanying CD to be used as listening exercises. 2002 It’s confirmed the band’s appearance in Spanish 2002 summer festivals ContemPOPranea and Benicassim. The band plays accompanied by Antonio Galvañ (PARADE) on keyboards. On July 2002 there’s a new CD-Single by the band: “A veces quiero estar callado”. The title track is taken from “1968” and features a video shot in the cable railway of Madrid, in super eight. The video takes place in the sixties. 2003
