JAB-2048 Parade "Intonarumore"
The etymology of this gorgeous double CD is related to the “intonarumori”, a series of noise-generating devices built at the beginning of the 20th Century by Italian futurists Luigi Russolo and Ugo Piatti, which they used to compose music and perform live with futurist poet Marinetti. But "Intonarumore" is also the name of Antonio Galvañ's home studio, where 99% of PARADE's music has been recorded, included all the songs featured on this compilation. This is why “Intonarumore” epitomises the career of this artist, unique in the Spanish music scene, before joining JABALINA with the September 2009 release "La fortaleza de la soledad", his fabulous fifth record. This new compilation features digipack artwork including an 8-page booklet by artist Mario Feal (as usual in PARADE's recent releases), and consists of two CDs containing 41 songs -including 10 unreleased tracks- plus extra instrumental interludes. Let's get into the matter of things: “Intonarumore” is made up of two different volumes, different but equally interesting. The first CD is some sort of "very best of" PARADE from his years in label SPICNIC, including official recordings from his first albums and EPs, many of which are currently either out of print or rare. Twenty classics from his repertoire such as “Radar”, “Primer contacto”, “Metaluna Moroder”, "Niño zombi", “Níkel Cromo”, “Flora Rostrobruno”, etc... The second CD is devoted to rare and unreleased tracks, a careful selection of songs grouped in styles and separated by short futurist instrumentals which will delight Parade fans. It features a total of 29 rare or unreleased tracks, like the much-demanded remix of “Niño zombi”, and a series of cover versions (of ALASKA Y DINARAMA, FAMILY, LA CASA AZUL or Franco Battiato) which he usually performs live. All in all, this is a record for long-time fans and newcomers alike. "Intonarumore" is a landmark in PARADE's career, and a great summary of Antonio Galvañ's genius, featuring both the best and the rarest before the wonderful next chapter.

SLR-96 VV.AA. "Searching for the now vol. 6"
THE SCHOOL - "And Suddenly"
On the a-side we find Welsh pop mavens THE SCHOOL, with a smashing cover of late LEFT BANKE tune "And Suddenly". Taking their cues from Brian Wilson, sunshine pop and classic Phil Spector girl-group sounds, THE SCHOOL join CAMERA OBSCURA, SATURDAY LOOKS GOOD TO ME and LUCKY SOUL in bringing 60s references bang up-to-date, showing respect to the past while staying very much in the present. Their two previous EPs on Elefant have garnered great press from Pitchfork, Under The Radar and The Village Voice, and we expect you'll be hearing a great deal about The School in 2009. "And Suddenly" is exclusive to this 7".
GEORGE WASHINGTON BROWN - "End Of The..." & "Twin Towers"
GEORGE WASHINGTON BROWN is the latest nom de rock of Pete Gofton, who got his start in teenage sensations KENICKIE and has gone on since to record an album as J XAVERRE and most recently an excellent album as GEORGE WASHINGTON BROWN for the Static Caravan imprint. Having worked with everyone from PENS to LOS CAMPESINOS to FIELD MUSIC, Gofton has a deep and broad understanding of pop and an unfailing ear for a great tune. His album "On The Night Plain" is a brilliant slice of pastoral, psychedelic power-pop that could sit snugly in any collection next to SUPER FURRY ANIMALS or your favorite Elephant 6 record. The two songs on this split single are brand new, exclusive and perfect examples of Gofton's quirky pop vision, full of production twists and surprising turns of melody.

Clifford003 Sueter "Prácticas en el circuito de Bahréin"
There is a truly talent locked in this four songs. And, although they have been supported by Juano(BOMBONES ) in the production and it has been recorded with Jordi Gil ( the secret weapon of Sr CHINARRO), it has clearly confirmed that SUÉTER are a group of boys from Granada that one year ago they were in a demo contest and this is their EP debut album. There is something in the water running down the Alhambra which produces the best Spanish pop. Between LOS PLANETAS and LA HABITACIÓN ROJA.

JAB-2047 Parade "La fortaleza de la soledad"
"La fortaleza de la soledad" (Fortress Of Solitude) reveals itself from the first listen as an impressive display of sensitivity and brilliant compositions full of small and great stories (check out the "Rainbows Avenue" trilogy), with multicoloured arrangements which are just perfect for the rich variety of styles that the imagination and talent of Antonio Galvañ has created. This astonishing exhibition of talent should end the clichéd idea that PARADE is an electronic pop artist and be evidence that, after a 10-year career, he has reached top form. PARADE’s very particular way of understanding pop music is interweaved with the rich influences of many styles and artists that fall into this category. Thus, PARADE sounds like piano-pop (BEN FOLDS FIVE or the best moments of Elton John...), like 60s and 70s soft-pop ("El desfile terminó", a CARPENTERS cover version, the album closer, is the perfect example) and like classics such as THE BEATLES, THE BEACH BOYS, THE HOLLIES, THE ZOMBIES or singer-songwriters like Jimmy Webb or Paul Williams. But he’s also indebted to country ("El aerolito Dylan"), to sunshine pop, to the sound of Curt Boettcher (THE ASSOCIATION, MILLENIUM, SAGITTARIUS) …and many more which we probably haven’t noticed yet! What is important is that PARADE is still the same, but at the same time he sounds different on "La fortaleza de la soledad" – he doesn’t hide his soft spot for 70s comic heroes, or for Phil Spector (as on the wonderful "Astrónomo melancólico") or even for classics like ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA, Todd Rundgren, THE HIGH LLAMAS, SOLERA or VAINICA DOBLE, a set of influences that make his music even greater.

JAB-032 Klaus & Kinski "Por qué no me das tu dinero"
After their resounding success with “Tu hoguera está ardiendo”, their debut album,KLAUS & KINSKI add fuel to the fire with this 5 songs new CD, that will reassert the identity signs (from MY BLOODY VALENTINE or STEREOLAB, to THE BEATLES and LOS PANCHOS) that made them obtain the title of breakthrough group of the year. Besides the hit song “Nunca estás a la altura”, this mini CD includes four unpublished songs, known by veteran fans from the first demos of this group lead by Alex and Marina: "Te vas a enterar", "El mejor idilio", "Shell for the mourning" (cover from Danish group OLIVER NORTH BOY CHOIR) and the song that gives its name to the album, "Por qué no me das tu dinero". True to themselves, KLAUS & KINSKI get consistent again by bringing together different styles at the service of Alex and Marina unique way of understanding pop music. In this occasion, shoegaze (“Nunca estás a la altura”), with a mix of Cuban son and Brazilian bossa (“Te vas a enterar”), 80s pop music (“Por qué no me das tu dinero”) and melodic music (“El mejor idilio”) with kraut rock (“Shell for the mourning”) get together with their ironic and creative lyrics, out of reach for almost everyone else. On the visual side, this mini CD is completed with a multimedia track with the new and amazing video of “Nunca estás a la altura”, directed and produced by Chema García Ibarra.

PIP-008 Superpartner "Love Hotel"
From southern Italy, seaside and the participation in selected reknown festivals (Heineken Jammin’ Festival Contest, Rock Contest, Controradio, Arezzo Wave, Scalo 76, Nokia Trends Lab Tour...), out of the blue come SUPERPARTNER. Please meet Rosita and her fresh cotton skirt, and Francesco, deep black nouvelle vague eyes. The tension between the two parts comes out in pop melodies full of spleen and ecstasy. Voluptuous cinematic hints mixed with a bubblegum pink icing, reminding CARDIGANS’ 90s blondeness, KOMEDA’s style, STEREOLAB’s class and DELGADOS’ duets. Many inspirations, no one to look up to. You’ll find SUPERPARTNER tunes sunny and refreshing but sometimes sour like a good old times lemonade. Released on the independent Italian label Pippola Music.

JAB-2045 Pumuky "El bosque en llamas"
Drums roll (like in the first song of the album) to announce the release of PUMUKY’s new album, titled "El bosque en llamas". A great work full of wonderful musical corners (some of them secret), of this band from Barcelona, led by Tenerife-born Jaír Ramírez. Pumuky’s second album opens the door to a very personal lyrical and musical universe that he has built after the years. Very unusual melodies and moods make this record particularly distinctive, avoiding easy descriptions like a furtive hunter – we see a similitude, though, with the strange shadows of MIGALA, LAMBCHOP’s bittersweet acoustic tunes and PATRICK WOLFat his most organic. Plus violent electric discharges reminiscent of MOGWAI and a melancholy very close to ELUVIUM, but always in a Pop context. “El bosque en llamas” is made up of 10 songs which show more than ever the variety of registers that PUMUKY is capable of. The album features songs full of energy burstings, like “Tu marca”, followed by mellow melancholic pieces such as "Si desaparezco" or "El Hombre Bosque en llamas". Wild guitars, moving walls of keyboards and punchy beats (often played by two simultaneous drummers) feature in songs like "Lobo estepario contra caballos desbocados" or "La Metamorfosis", which contrast with delicate arrangements and melodies which soothe the unending outbursts of rage. "El bosque en llamas" is a brilliant mixture of different elements, including instrumentals like "El innombrable" or "El exilio de los invisibles", which dynamize the sound of the record and fit perfectly, thanks to the work of Arturo Vaquero, which makes the record a pleasurable listen from beginning to end, and “readable” as a novel – the texts are moving, simple and stark, and give us a glimpse of the obsessions and hopes of the creator. Interestingly, the lyrics show opposing poles too, something that seems inherent to PUMUKY’s vital essence.
